How much money does the United States make from tourism annually?
wizard9013 asked:
How many billions of dollars does the U.S. make from the tourism industry? I read that Switzerland makes 1.5 billion and wondered how America compared, but couldn’t find a statistic anywhere.

Very good answer. Though the amount spent by foreign tourists in the US is higher than any other country, it could be a lot higher which would help with our balance of payments problems and increase the value of the dollar. Most of the international tourists coming to the US are from Canada and Mexico. Customs and immigration does not make it easy for nationals of many countries to visit the US especially since 9/11.
